Michael Owen has claimed he did not see Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah reaching the heights he has following his move to Anfield back in 2017.
Salah has been a superb performer for Jurgen Klopp's side ever since his arrival from Roma, finding the net a whopping 158 times in 256 appearances. And the good news for Liverpool fans is that 30-year-old is staying at the club for the foreseeable future after signing a new contract earlier this summer.
And Owen believes Salah can become one of the "greatest of all time" after admitting the Egypt international has changed the way he thinks about goalscoring.

Owen, who scored 158 goals in 297 appearances for the Reds between 1997 and 2004, told DAZN : "Not anymore (on being surprised by Salah). But I think you would be a liar if anyone said they expected 40+ goals in his first season.
“But to come and score 40+ in your first season, and then continually do it, I am totally surprised. I always thought (goalscoring) was instinctive and it’s a natural born thing, whether you are a good finisher or you are not. And I do think, to a certain extent (it is instinctive), with certain runs.
“But I have watched him now and thought, ‘you can improve as a finisher’. He’s mastered some finishes as well. His improvement has staggered me and most of the footballing world.
"If he continues this level for a few more years, we will be talking about one of the greatest of all time.”
