Michael Owen is reportedly 'keen' to meet his daughter Gemma’s love interest Luca Bish, who she is currently coupled up with on Love Island.
The football legend is said to be relying on updates on his daughter’s stint in the ITV2 villa from his wife Louise, after finding tuning in a 'tough gig'.
However, he has taken a shine to the Brighton fishmonger, but would need to meet him in person to make a definite decision, a source has now told the Mail Online.
They said: “As any dad will understand Michael isn’t exactly enjoying seeing Gemma’s love life play out on screen! There’s things a dad doesn’t need to witness…
“He’s seen a few of the episodes and from what he’s witnessed he thinks Luca and the other guys on the Island seem like pretty decent fellas.
“But if Luca ends up officially going out with Gemma he will definitely want to meet him and make up his own mind on the guy. Any father would.”
The source added: “He has been relying on Louise to keep him up to date with what’s going on.
“He’s proud of how well Gemma is doing and knows how level headed she is and that she won't do anything she’s not comfortable with.”
This comes as Luca and Gemma are set to face the ultimate Love Island test tonight, as the Casa Amor divide gets underway.
Love Island has sent in twelve new Casa Amor girls and boys who are ready to cause havoc in the two villas over the next few days.
Gemma’s relationship could even be at risk after Luca reveals a 'connection' with one of the Casa Amor girls tonight as makeup artist Mollie Salmon, 23, pulls him for a chat.
During their conversation the pair sit on the bean bags and Mollie says: “I thought I’d pull you for a chat and just see what you’re about."
They soon realise that they have a lot in common as Mollie says: “Guess what? My last name’s Salmon.”
Luca says: “No, it’s not!” Mollie continues: “I swear to you. Luca Bish, Mollie fish!”
Desperate to know where she stands, Mollie asks: "I’m semi-closed, yeah...
"But you just don’t know what’s happening over there….Listen, if someone were to come in here. It would take something special, and you don’t know.”
Will Mollie be able to turn Luca's head?
Love Island airs every night at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub.
