Michael Owen apologised to viewers after he was revealed as Doughnuts on The Masked Singer.
The footballer, 42, was given the boot after a double elimination where he rapped Everybody Get Up by Five.
After he was unmasked, the dad-of-four took to Twitter to share his apology.
Sharing a photo of him dressed in his doughnut man costume he wrote: "Finally I can apologise for burning your ears these last few weeks.
"My kids badgered me into doing @MaskedSingerUK but I have to say it was a great experience and a whole lot of fun.
"Still can't believe I got past round one!"
The former Manchester United and Liverpool striker was one of 12 celebrities to battle it off in the quirky ITV show.
He made it to episode six dressed in a suit made of plush doughnuts covered in icing and sprinkles.
During his time on the show he sang his heart out to Survivor's Eye of the Tiger, Spice Up Your Life by Spice Girls and Neil Diamond's Sweet Caroline.
Fans were shocked that Michael Owen agreed to do the show, with one fan writing: "Never thought I'd see the day where you'd have Michael Owen dressed as doughnuts singing everybody get up by Five on TV."
And another said: "Hahahaha made my year that #maskedsinger #donut #michaelowen."
Although one wasn't surprised at all and said: "Your voice was just so clearly you, it’s been fun laughing at the people who couldn’t tell it was you!
"Well done Michael, think you probably won a few new fans as you were a good laugh."
Another told him: "Spice up your Life was the TV highlight of the year!"
One added: "Hahahaaaa! I loved your performances each week! Me and Mam were really entertained by you! "You sang her Favourite Neil Diamond Song!
"Still smile watching your Spice Up your Life performance! Fair play! I enjoyed you each week!"
Michael was joined by actress Jaime Winstone who revealed herself as Fireworks.
She laughed at her friend Rita Ora for not working out that it was her.
After she was asked why she took part in this year's series she told presenter Joel Dommett: "For me it was a no-brainer, just you know for my son."
After the show she said she found the judge's guesses funny, and said: "Rita actually guessed me once but convinced herself that I would never do this show.
"I really wanted to have some fun with what I do for a living and I’m so happy I did, it has unlocked my inner pop star. The young Jaime in me was smiling cheek to cheek."
