Michael Owen hails 'exceptional' Leeds United star for goal in Tottenham defeat

Former England striker Michael Owen has labelled the way Crysencio Summerville took his goal against Tottenham Hotspur as 'exceptional'. Summerville gave Leeds United a tenth minute lead in the capital, though the Whites were left frustrated as they conceded twice late on to lose 4-3.

The 21-year-old was played into the area by Brenden Aaronson but still had plenty to do as Eric Dier looked to use his body to prevent him from getting his shot away. However, that did not phase Summerville has he not only remained strong, but composed himself to take three excellent touches before firing in with his weak foot.

Summerville has now scored in four successive matches for Leeds and has become the youngest Whites player ever to do so in the Premier League. Speaking to the Premier League website, Owen was very impressed with the way he managed to take a 'really hard chance'.

He said: “I just think this is such a good goal. The ball is behind him, he takes a lovely touch with the outside of his foot, another one to keep it away from the defender and then finishes it brilliantly.

“It’s a really hard chance. He’s behind the defender when he gets the ball. How he does that is really, really exceptional.”
