Michael Owen agrees with pundit over Manchester United vs Watford score prediction

Michael Owen and other pundits have shared their predictions as Manchester United prepare to meet Watford at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon (3pm).

Victories over Brighton and Leeds United have revived top-four hopes for United this season as Ralf Rangnick and his side followed up those results with a hard-fought draw against Atletico Madrid in their Champions League last-16 opener on Wednesday night.

A return to Premier League duty awaits for United Saturday afternoon.

Fellow top-four contenders Arsenal are without a game this weekend, while West Ham are set to lock horns with Wolves on Sunday afternoon. A best-case scenario for United would see them four points clear of Arsenal, who at that stage would have three games in hand.

Here is what two top pundits are saying will happen at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon;

Mark Lawrenson - BBC Sport

Speaking to BBC Sport, the former Liverpool defender said: "Watford won 4-1 when these sides met in November, which was the end of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as manager. Three months on and United still have issues.

"They put in another disjointed performance against Atletico Madrid in the Champions League on Wednesday, but got away with a 1-1 draw and are very much in that last-16 tie. Under Ralf Rangnick they do seem to have a knack of getting a result without playing particularly well, but I still feel they need a really convincing performance soon.

"We know what Roy Hodgson will do, concede possession but try and make his side hard to break down and leave little space for United's attackers to operate in, then attack on the break. On his last three visits to Old Trafford, that has worked extremely well [with Crystal Palace].

"He has won twice and drew the other occasion 0-0, but it's going to be hard for Watford to replicate those results. I don't see them holding out."

Score prediction: Man United 3-0 Watford

Michael Owen - BetVictor

In his latest BetVictor column, Owen added: "I don't think that United are playing well at the minute, but they're getting results. I didn't think they played well in Madrid, but to come away with a draw was a great result. They've got a tough run of fixtures coming up after this one, though, so they'll need to raise the performance levels.

Do you agree with these pundits? Have your say in the comments section below.

"Watford are fighting for every point and their fixtures are difficult until the end of the season.

"Defeat to Palace was disappointing. That might have given them some optimism moving forward.

"This should be a comfortable Man United win. Watford are struggling and I can't see them threatening."

Score prediction: Man United 2-0 Watford
