Michael Obafemi stole the show on the pitch with an amazing goal and assist, but also off the pitch with a couple of hilarious post match interviews.
Speaking to RTE after the match, the Swansea star allayed concerns that he was injured. Obafemi went off injured in the second half, and when asked about the injury he said "Yea, I'm all good. Just a little niggle, but it's all good."
It was a huge day for Obafemi, who was making his first start for Ireland. The Swansea star showed no sign of nerves however, as he stole the show and was rightfully named Man of The Match.
"Obviously happy to be here, in front of the fans, the home fans, and happy to announce myself", said Obafemi.
One of the most eye-catching things about Obafemi's performance was his link up play with Trot Parrott. Both men got on the scoresheet, with both providing each other with the assist for their respective goals.
"We spoke about it before the game, mine and Troy's link up play. Obviously we saw it today with the second goal, and we're just happy that we got the win as well.
"I looked up and I saw the darting run, and thought 'somebody put it right on his noggin' and it was there, it was brilliant."
"Obviously Troy played me the ball, I just opened up and I was just like 'hit it'. I feel like sometimes I don't take enough shots and today I thought let me give it a go and thankfully it went in."
When asked whether it was the best goal of his career so far, Obafemi hilariously quipped "One of them" before bursting out laughing.
And at the end of the interview, Obafemi can be heard asking 'Is this mine?' after being presented with a vase as reward for winning the Carlsberg man of the match.
In a later interview posted on the FAI's Twitter page, Obafemi could hardly keep a straight face when he said "I feel like people are overlooking the assist and are just talking about the goal."
Hopefully, Obafemi's career can continue to go from strength-to-strength after today, and we get to enjoy more entertaining interviews and, more importantly, breathtaking displays.
