Michael Jackson's bedroom scattered with drugs, post-its and dolls when he died

Medicines, post-it notes with scrawled messages, piles of books and dolls were found in Michael Jackson 's bedroom when he died.

A new documentary will examine what was left behind by the King of Pop after his tragic death on June 25, 2009, aged 50.

For the first time, the three US detectives who led the original investigation into Jackson’s death – Orlando Martinez, Dan Myers and Scott Smith – will speak about what they found inside the room where Jackson died.

The documentary recounts photographs from inside Jackson’s home treatment room, bedroom, and of Dr Conrad Murray’s medical bag.

The detectives recall finding Jackson’s treatment room scattered with medicines, a doll, and Jackson’s computer.

Speaking in the documentary, Detective Orlando Martinez describes entering the scene.

He says: "There were post-it notes, or pieces of paper taped all over the room and mirrors and doors with little slogans or phrases. I don’t know if they were lyrics or thoughts. Some of them seemed like poems. The bedroom was... it was a mess."

Entering the room where Dr Murray treated Jackson, Martinez continues to describe the eerie surroundings.

He adds: "In the room where he was being treated, it did not seem like a room fit for any type of medical treatment. I mean, it was like a home, makeshift medical suite. It was just bare bones."

Adding to this, Detective Scott Smith, recalls: "I just remember going in there and there was an IV stand, a saline bag and just various medications strewn about."

In the film, Martinez also describes what he found in Jackson’s treatment room.

"There was a computer on the bed, there was a lifelike doll on the bed, and there was kind of like advertisements pictures of babies," he says.

The detectives also describe discovering Dr Murray’s medical bag hidden in the property, which first arose their suspicions of foul play.

Martinez adds: "We found a bunch more medicines that were used, like propofol.

"We found all the waste, all the trash. The needles, the empty bottles, the stuff that, when we went into the room, should have been laying there.

"So we knew that sometime during this medical emergency, Dr Murray had stopped either giving CPR or had waited to give CPR and cleaned up everything."

Myers concludes: "Within 48 hours, it appeared that it was a suspicious death in that there was something more than just an overdose."

Dr Murray was convicted of the involuntary manslaughter of Jackson at a trial in 2011.

He received the maximum sentence of four years in prison. His Texas medical license was revoked and his California and Nevada licenses were suspended.

Dr Murray served two years in prison before being released on parole.
