Michael Fabricant: Ex-Tory MP opens up on Celebrity Big Brother about his 'complicated' polyamorous lifestyle

Sir Michael Fabricant has opened up about his polyamorous lifestyle for the first time.

The former Tory MP, 74, revealed he has a partner of 35 years, as well as “very deep friendships” with two other people.

Fabricant, who is bisexual, hinted at his relationship with Andy Street, the former Mayor of the West Midlands, when quizzed about his dating life during Tuesday’s episode of Celebrity Big Brother.

“I’ve never been in the closet,” he told fellow housemates Jojo Siwa and Drag Race UK winner Danny Beard.

“It's complicated. I have someone who I have known for 35 years who's 13 years younger than me. But I also have, and this is even more complicated, two friends and we all go on holiday separately with me or not.”

Beard asked: “Would you call that an open relationship or polyamorous? Because I actually think a lot of gay people like that and a lot of straight people don't understand it.”

Fabricant talked about his relationship status with Drag Race UK winner Danny Beard (ITV)

Fabricant nodded in agreement, before adding: “I would maybe say I've got very deep friendships. That would maybe be more tactful.”

The former politician - who entered the CBB house on Monday - previously revealed he met Street at an Oxford University reunion, saying they are “very close” but lead “separate lives”.

He told GB News in 2021 that they are “life partners,” adding: “We’ve got a place together in Wales because we both like walking.

“We go on holidays together, and we’re, you know, we’re very, very close. But we lead separate lives. If we lived together all the time, I think we’d murder each other.”

“There’s something special, but I’m not quite sure what it is. One of those indefinable little things.”

Fabricant also revealed he has had relationships in the past with women who wanted to get married and have children, but he didn’t want the “commitment”.

The reality star served as an MP for Lichfield in Staffordshire from 1992 to 2024, when he failed to be re-elected.

As a Tory MP, he served as David Cameron's vice-chairman and worked under Boris Johnson.

Fabricant was given a knighthood in the former Prime Minister's resignation honours list, getting the award in December 2023.
