Leigh Wood's opponent Michael Conlan has been revealed to be conscious and stable after being knocked out by the Nottingham fighter.
Wood's Irish opponent, Conlan, was taken to hospital on a stretcher after being knocked out cold by a right hook from Wood in an extremely dramatic fight.
Conlan was up on all three judges scorecards heading into the final round, as he controlled the fight with his speed - hurting Wood throughout after almost stopping the fight in the first.
But Wood was resilient, and continued to press and come forward - finally having some joy of his own in the middle rounds.
Wood would drop Conlan in the 11th, before landing the devastating knockout in the 12th in what was one of the best comebacks UK boxing has ever seen.
But the celebrations would be muted, after Conlan was knocked out of the ring and flat onto his back.
Wood was immediately concerned, telling the screaming Nottingham fans to calm down after seeing the condition that his opponent was in.
Thankfully though, Matchroom have revealed that Conlan is stable.
CEO of Matchroom, Frank Smith, posted: "Michael Conlan arrived at hospital, conscious and stable."
For Wood, it was a truly emphatic victory in which he'll have gained thousands of fans, as he overcame the odds once again to be victorious in a fight he was expected to lose.
The boxing world had Michael Conlan in their thoughts, as he hopefully makes a full recovery after a truly impressive performance.
Conlan later said on his Instagram story: “I’m all good, I’m just getting checked up in the hospital. The CT scan is all clear.
“Congrats to Leigh Wood, congrats to his team, that was the best shot of the night he got me with at the end. But it is what it is, I’ll be back.”
He added on Twitter: “Definitely want a rematch lol.”
