Michael Cohen To Deliver Key Testimony In Trump Trial

Michael Cohen Former U.S. President Trump's civil fraud trial continues, in New York Michael Cohen Appears at supreme court

Michael Cohen, a significant witness in the hush money case involving former President Trump, has a longstanding history with the ex-president, which is crucial as the case unfolds.

Cohen's professional relationship with Trump predates the latter's entry into politics. Originally a Democrat, Cohen served as Trump's personal attorney and expressed unwavering loyalty to him during the 2016 campaign.

In an attempt to shield Trump from scandal, Cohen reportedly made a $130,000 payment to adult film actress Stormy Daniels, who was considering revealing details of an alleged affair with Trump just before the 2016 presidential election. Despite Trump's denial of any involvement with Daniels, Cohen later admitted guilt to charges related to payments made to Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal, stating that he acted 'at the direction' of Trump.

Former Trump aide Hope Hicks, in her testimony, characterized Cohen as someone who referred to himself as 'Mr. Fix It,' insinuating that he was more prone to causing problems than solving them. Hicks also indicated her belief that Trump was aware of the payment to Daniels.

Cohen, who pleaded guilty to violating federal campaign finance laws, tax evasion, and providing false statements to Congress, completed a three-year prison sentence in 2021. He is now poised to testify in the case against Trump, offering critical insights that could significantly impact the prosecution's case.
