Former lawyer Michael Cohen took the witness stand on Monday morning in the New York criminal case against former President Trump. Cohen's testimony is crucial to the case, as he is alleged to have facilitated hush money payments to pornography actress Stormy Daniels on behalf of Trump. Prosecutors from Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg's office have accused Trump of falsifying business records related to these payments.
During his testimony, Cohen appeared visibly nervous. Prosecutors initially questioned him about his family history and other unrelated topics before delving into his work for Trump. Cohen disclosed that he had a salary of approximately $525,000 per year at the time of the 2016 election.
Prosecutors had been preparing for Cohen's testimony for weeks and had previously called Daniels to the stand. Trump entered the courtroom on Monday accompanied by a group of prominent supporters, including Sen. J.D. Vance, Rep. Nicole Malliotakis, Sen. Tommy Tuberville, and his son, Eric Trump.
