Key witness Michael Cohen has returned to the witness stand in the ongoing criminal trial involving former President Donald Trump. Cohen, who previously expressed unwavering loyalty to Trump, is now in a position to directly implicate Trump in the decision to pay hush money to adult film actress Stormy Daniels just before the 2016 election, as well as the subsequent reimbursement scheme.
The relationship between Cohen and Trump has been tumultuous, with both individuals publicly criticizing each other. The tension between them was palpable during Cohen's previous testimony at Trump's civil fraud trial in New York last year.
Cohen's appearance marks the 20th witness called by the prosecution in the trial. During the proceedings, defense attorney Todd Blanche was observed whispering to Trump as Cohen passed by, though Trump did not acknowledge him.
