During a recent court session, attorney Susan Hoffinger questioned Michael Cohen about a Wall Street Journal article from 2018 regarding American Media Inc., payments, and Cohen's discussion with former National Enquirer publisher David Pecker. Cohen revealed that Pecker was concerned about the potential impact on AMI and himself. Cohen assured Pecker that he would assist with the matter and later informed him, after consulting with the president, that everything was under control.
The jury was reminded by the judge that the evidence presented could be used to evaluate Pecker's credibility. Cohen disclosed that he had informed Pecker that then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions would handle the issue, following a conversation with the president.
Cohen clarified that this conversation with Pecker occurred after his discussion with Trump. Hoffinger confirmed that Cohen had indeed discussed the matter with Trump prior to his conversation with Pecker.
