During the recent testimony in court, Stormy Daniels' attorney, Keith Davidson, revealed that he had conversations with Michael Cohen, former lawyer to ex-President Donald Trump, after the 2016 election. Davidson shared that Cohen expressed feeling 'despondent' for not securing a position in the White House.
Davidson recounted that Cohen frequently contacted him, with one particular call on a Saturday morning standing out. Cohen allegedly lamented, 'Can you believe I’m not going to Washington after everything I’ve done for that guy? I can’t believe I’m not going to Washington…I’ve saved his a**...' Cohen reportedly aspired to become either the Attorney General or the White House chief of staff.
Davidson further testified that he was concerned about Cohen's mental state, fearing that he might harm himself due to his distress over not being part of the Trump administration.
Cohen is known to have played a role in arranging the $130,000 payment to Stormy Daniels to silence her claims of an alleged affair with Trump in 2006. Trump, who is speculated to run for the GOP presidential nomination in 2024, has consistently denied any involvement with Daniels.
It is anticipated that Cohen will be a key witness for Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg as the trial progresses.
The criminal trial briefly paused for an afternoon lunch break and is scheduled to resume at 2:15 p.m.
