Michael Cohen Denies Prior Knowledge Of Trump Indictment

Michael Cohen departs home to testify in Republican presidential candidate and former U.S. President Donald Trump's criminal trial in New York

During the recent court proceedings, Michael Cohen was questioned by the defense regarding text messages exchanged between him and Jeremy Rosenberg, a retired detective from the Manhattan district attorney's office. These text messages were collected by Rosenberg as part of the investigation into former President Donald Trump.

Cohen reviewed the text messages on a monitor inside the courtroom. Prosecutor Susan Hoffinger raised concerns about the redactions in the messages potentially distorting their context, to which Cohen agreed.

However, Hoffinger objected to the text messages being entered as evidence, a point that was sustained by Judge Juan Merchan after discussions with both parties.

Under questioning from Trump's lawyer, Todd Blanche, Cohen confirmed that the messages were sent around the time he testified before the grand jury last year.

Blanche specifically inquired about a message where Rosenberg allegedly mentioned that 'it was done,' implying that Trump had been indicted. Cohen clarified that Rosenberg was referring to a newspaper article, not the actual indictment of Trump.

Despite Blanche's probing, Cohen maintained that he was not informed by Rosenberg about Trump's indictment before it was officially unsealed. Cohen reiterated that his knowledge of Trump's indictment came from a New York Times article.

Furthermore, Cohen stated that he did not recall receiving any communication from Rosenberg prior to the public announcement of Trump's indictment.
