Former Jets running back Michael Carter did not last long without a team, as expected. He was claimed off waivers Wednesday by the Arizona Cardinals.

Carter was released by the Jets in a bit of a surprising move, but a move the Jets hope will add a spark to their offense as it will open the door for Israel Abanikanda to start seeing time in games.
Since the trade deadline passes, all released players are subject to the waiver wire but Carter has less than four seasons anyway, so he would have gone through waivers regardless.
Two other teams, Tampa Bay and Washington, also put in a claim for Carter but Arizona had the highest priority among the teams on the waiver wire, so Carter is heading to the desert.
In addition to the Cardinals, the Buccaneers and Commanders put a claim in on RB Michael Carter, per source.
Meanwhile, the 49ers also put in a claim on OL Calvin Throckmorton, who was awarded to the Titans off of waivers.

Carter joins a running back group in Arizona that also includes James Conner, Emari Demercado and Keaontay Ingram.
