Former UFC Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping has given some words of advice to Ian Garry ahead of his undefeated showdown with Shakvat Rakhmonov in the UFC 310 main event.
Michael Bisping Gives Ian Garry Advice Ahead Of UFC 310
Ian Garry faces the toughest test of his career by quite some distance in the main event at UFC 310. The undefeated Irish MMA star takes on Shavkat Rakhmonov in what is a final eliminator for the UFC Welterweight Title.
The winner of this fight at UFC 310 will undoubtedly challenge Belal Muhammad for the 170-pound title in 2025, after he defeated Leon Edwards in 2024 to become the king of the division.
Both Rakhmonov and Garry are undefeated, with somebody’s undefeated record set to go on Saturday, December 7. The best UFC betting sites in the UK believe it will be Rakhmonov who gets his hand raised in victory and announced the winner by MC Bruce Buffer.
However, former UFC Middleweight Champion Michael Bisping believes there are a few ways that the Irishman can win this fight. Although he is the big underdog and almost expected to lose, Bisping has analysed the fight and believes there are a couple ways in which Ian Garry can defeat the unbeaten Kazakh.
Rakhmonov is a submission specialist, having finished five of his six UFC opponents to date via either rear-naked choke or guillotine. He hasn’t gone the distance once in his UFC career, and Bisping believes that could be Garry’s path to victory.
Garry Can Beat Rakhmonov By ‘Using The Range’ – Bisping
Michael Bisping firmly believes that if Ian Garry can use his range, superior striking and movement, then he has a chance of beating the fearsome Shavkat Rakhmonov.
“He’s got to keep Shavkat Rakhmonov off him, okay? If he can’t stop the takedown, he will get finished. And that is no disrespect to Ian Garry,” Bisping told talkSPORT.
If the 15-0 unbeaten Irishman is to be congratulated in victory by UFC President Dana White, then Bisping believes he must stop the takedown and use his own attributes.
“He might be able to dance around, use the reach, use the range, use the movement, be fast, be elusive, be nice and crisp, be light on his toes, and be dedicated enough to not allow himself to get involved into a brawl,” Bisping added.
“If he does that, Shavkat’s going to get a hold of him. If he gets a hold of him, he’s going to get him down. And if he gets him down, It’s going to be lights out.
“So the story in this fight is simple. Can Ian Garry stop the takedown? Because if he can’t, someone’s zero is going to go, and that’s probably going to be Ian Garry’s.
“But he does have a path to victory of using the range, sticking, and moving. The crowd will boo, but who cares about the crowd? Winning is all that matters.”
Time will tell how the fight plays out in the main event at UFC 310, and who Joe Rogan will be interviewing in the octagon afterwards as the winner of the welterweight contest.
