Michael Beale has told Rangers it’s a no-brainer to sign Milak Tillman permanently from Bayern Munich. But ideas will have to align for Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent to stay.
Tillman is on loan from the German giants until the end of the season, but the Ibrox club have an exclusive option to buy the American. He netted his second goal in as many games when he headed the gers into the lead on the stroke of half-time against Ross County. Jordan White equalised after the break but Borna Barisic’s deflected free-kick ensured the points stayed in Govan.
Kent and Morelos currently have around three months left as Rangers players before their deals are up. Beale is hopeful of keeping both in Glasgow, but admits the club’s thinking has to match the duo’s if deals are to be done, with talks ongoing to try and come to an agreement that suits all parties.
When asked if he could offer the fans “comfort” over their futures, Beale replied: “I do, there’s a couple of things here. There’s the players having their ideas and the club having theirs. I’m sitting navigating through both of that. Everyone knows our relationship with Ryan and Alfredo is very strong. They’ve both been here a long time and if they chose not to be here, that would be on them.
“I’d like them both to remain, but that’s all got to fit in with their plans and the club’s plans as well, in terms of those players. So those conversations are still to be had and they’re ongoing. Malik’s a no-brainer for me. I would like Malik to be here for a number of years. He’s an excellent young player and he’s enjoying his football here. Again, that’s for the people above me to organise.”
Rangers lost John Lundstram to injury early doors, which saw Tillman introduced. And Beale admits it could be a bad one. “He stabilised us today,” the Ibrox boss told BBC Scotland. “John’s really important to our structure. He was fantastic in midweek. He’s gone to block a shot and rolled his ankle. It looks like a nasty one and he’s gone for a scan on that then we’ll update in the next 24 hours.”
