Michael Beale sends well-wishes to forgotten Rangers player

Michael Beale has sent his heartfelt well-wishes to forgotten Rangers defender Filip Helander after his return to the Sweden set-up.

The towering defender was released by Beale at the end of last season after encountering several injury issues during his time at Ibrox.

The 30-year-old signed for Danish top-flight side OB in the summer and has been regularly featuring for them since.

This led to his first national team call-up since March 2020. Winning his 20th international cap, Helander played in a friendly win over Moldova. He patterned Celtic's Gustaf Lagerbielke at the back.

And Beale has shown his appreciation for the centre-back by posting a kind message on social media dedicated to his former player.

Sharing his delight on his Instagram story, he wrote: "Great to see big Fil back playing, fit and healthy again. Well done I am proud of you."

Meanwhile, Graeme Souness should be allowed to select the next Rangers manager.

That's the view of former Scotland and Celtic forward Frank McAvennie.

The former Rangers player and manager has been involved in the recruitment process for a new manager at his old club.

The Ibrox hierarchy are believed to have turned to the 70-year-old to help in their search for Beale's replacement.

It's said that he was among those from the club who met with Frank Lampard but decided not to pursue the Chelsea legend.

Now, speaking to Football Insider, Macca reckons James Bisgrove and John Bennett should place their faith in Souness to pick the right man for the job.

He said: "Let Graeme Souness pick the manager because he will pick the right person.

"He has the club’s best interest at heart, rather than somebody who is thinking about financial. He will be thinking about the football side rather than the financial side."
