Michael Beale reveals Rangers summer targets and details January plans

MICHAEL BEALE will finalise his plans for the January transfer window over the next fortnight after revealing he has already got targets in mind for next summer.

The Englishman has started his Ibrox reign with successive wins over Hibernian and Aberdeen to ensure Rangers remain nine points adrift in the Premiership heading into their clash with Ross County this evening.

The manner of the performances in both victories has caused concern as a makeshift side have had to come from behind on each occasion to get Beale off and running following his appointment as Giovanni van Bronckhorst's successor.

Beale is set to welcome Kemar Roofe and Antonio Colak back to the squad for the visit of Motherwell next week and Tom Lawrence and Ianis Hagi are on course to return to action next month as the Ibrox injury crisis eases.,

And the state of play in the treatment room could go some way to shaping the thinking for the second half of the season as Beale and Ross Wilson, the sporting director, consider their options heading into the transfer window.

Beale said: "Some players coming back will be like new signings. I am not saying there won’t be anything in January, I am just not going to commit to it because I don’t know what is available in the market.

"I have got one or two players in my mind that we wouldn’t be able to get in January that I think would make us stronger in the future.

"We have to get to the end of the season first and I realise that nothing is guaranteed in the game. I think we will look at one or two and the next ten days or two weeks might make our mind up one way or the other.

"I think so [it will be more evolution than revolution]. Having players fit and well and performing, all of a sudden the squad looks a lot stronger.

"I keep mentioning three names – Roofe, Hagi and Lawrence. They are all starters at Rangers and then what do you do with Tillman, Kent, Morelos, Sakala and Arfield?

"Let's get to that position first because then we will be able to navigate these periods a lot better.

"We have six from six so let’s see how we go. It would give us more control I think."
