Michael Beale responds to Rangers fans' protest as he hails 'special moment' for Todd Cantwell

Michael Beale admits he understands the Rangers fans' frustrations after their latest protest against the Ibrox board.

Supporters in the away stand at Fir Park unfurled a huge banner that read 'Time For Change' that took aim at Sporting Director Ross Wilson and Managing Director Stewart Robertson. Fans also held up individual cards that displayed images of the Ibrox duo inside a red circle with a line through it.

It comes just one week after Rangers fan group The Union Bears boycotted their section of Ibrox in protest after their banners were not allowed to be displayed in their Scottish Cup last eight showdown with Scottish Championship outfit Raith Rovers. During the Premiership match against Kilmarnock the group displayed a banner claiming the club hierarchy had 'taken their eye off the ball'.

The Rangers boss says the supporters are free to voice their opinion as he reacted post-match after the Light Blues' 4-2 win over Motherwell at Fir Park this lunchtime. He told Sky Sports: "It's obvious not to be aware of it today as it is so there and the fans are involved and voicing their frustrations. At this moment in time they have a team that is getting results. Lots of players are taking part in that and we are trying to move forward and improve.

"I just want everyone to stay together. We are a stronger club when we are together. I understand the frustrations of the fans. They pay their money, come and watch and fill out every home and away game.

"They are free to voice their opinion. Just me as the manager I think at the moment there is more things to be positive about and I would like everyone to support the team on the pitch.

"Listen, I understand it, that is just difficult at times for the team when it is a big away performance we are looking for."

On Todd Cantwell, he added: "I think he has surprised a lot of people in terms of his positioning. He's playing a little bit deeper. Working so hard for the team, regains the ball and is involved in all aspects. One key area is to create and score goals.

"He gets an assist last week for Scott Arfield and goes and scores his first goal for Rangers today. I've been delighted with him. I am delighted for him today as that is a special moment for him personally."
