Michael Beale responds to Alfredo Morelos Rangers exit claims as boss reveals transfer 'discussion'

Michael Beale insists there is no truth to rumours that Alfredo Morelos will leave for Sevilla but that he will speak soon with the Rangers forward.

The Englishman takes his Scottish Cup hopefuls to Fir Park on Saturday having not lost yet in league action since his arrival at Rangers. The only Beale blemish came in the Viaplay Cup final against rivals Celtic but the Ibrox coach will get a chance for revenge next month when the Glasgow heavyweights meet again in the final four of the Scottish Cup.

But the future of soon-to-be out of contract Morelos remains up in the air, with reports that the Colombian had signed a pre-contract agreement with La Liga outfit Sevilla being quashed by the forward himself. Now Beale has confirmed the same understanding but admits there will be discussions tabled in the coming weeks.

He said: "I've spoken with Alfredo (Morelos) about the recent rumours and there is no truth in that. I was pretty cool about it beforehand because we have such a strong relationship. We're both committed to each other until the end of the season and we will sit down and discuss his situation.

"If Alfredo is here and he's offered a new contract, great. If he moves on, he's our record goalscorer in Europe. We've had a lot of big days together. He'll get a hug and on he goes.

"Since I have returned Alfredo has been fantastic, there have been no issues whatsoever and I think people sometimes try to force this. If you look at his goal involvement per game you can see his quality."

Beale also faces potential similar chats with out of contract men Ryan Kent, Ryan Jack and Scott Arfield whose deals are all running down imminently. But the Englishman admits no new deals have been penned.

He added: "There is no truth in any player signing a new contract."
