Michael Beale Rangers early transfer business praised with Celtic trophy challenge labelled 'massive'

Michael Beale has landed praise for his Rangers transfer work to date with the Ibrox side facing a 'massive challenge' to dethrone Celtic.

The Ibrox side have already brought in six new faces this summer with Cyriel Dessers the latest name to pen on the dotted line. He has joined Kieran Dowell, Dujon Sterling, Jack Butland, Abdallah Sima and Sam Lammers in committing their futures this summer as the overhaul in Govan continues. Big names like Alfredo Morelos and Ryan Kent - who has since joined Fenerbahce - departed at the end of the season as a new era gets ready to start.

The Hoops are also going through change with Ange Postecoglou away for a crack at the English Premier League with Tottenham. Brendan Rodgers has been appointed his successor for a second spell in charge of Celtic while star man Jota has been sold for a big fee to Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Ittihad.

The Parkhead side completed a domestic clean sweep last season and former defender and pundit Hutton knows his former club face a huge task to wrestle some of the trophies back next season. The early summer business will allow Beale to work with his new troops for a longer period and get his ideas across with more arrivals expected.

Commenting on his transfer business and the task ahead, Hutton told Football Insider: “Fair play to him.

“He has spoken about this in the past, that he wants everybody in as soon as possible.

“He knows he has got a massive challenge on his hands next season. Celtic won the treble and he has to try and wrestle some of those trophies back.

“To do that he needed to get players out, which he has done, and the players that he wants in to really work with them and get his ideas across.“
