Michael Beale in Rangers 'not what I've been told in-house' response over Morgan Whittaker claims

Michael Beale has responded to Russell Martin's claims Rangers had a bid rejected for Morgan Whittaker by saying: 'That's not what I've been told in-house'

The Swansea City boss yesterday claimed that the Light Blues had made a move for the 22-year-old in a short-nine word statement. The Ibrox men are out to add to their ranks during the January window with the new boss hoping to have news on one or two deals in the coming days. But it appears the 42-year-old wasn't aware of such claims from the English Championship club. When asked about the transfer situation, he said: "Did he really? I didn’t know we had made a bid - that’s not what I’ve been told in-house”.

Norwich City's Todd Cantwell is another name that has been branded around with Rangers said to hold an interest in bringing him north of the border. His contract at Carrow Road expires in the summer. No new arrivals have arrived at this point of the window but that could all change in a matter of days - much to the delight of both Beale and the fans.

He continued: "We are close to one or two bits. I don't want to put a timeline and disappoint anyone. We are close to one or two being announced in the coming days and I'm really pleased with the work everyone has done behind the scenes on that.

"You can see from my face I can't really tell you much more. In the meantime, the boys that are here are doing well and in the coming days we will have news for everyone."

On Kent and Morelos contract situations, he added: "We are certainly not resigned to them leaving. The schedule has been really heaving and we are finding a break in it to sit down and have a conversation.

"I get on with both boys really well. I've known Ryan longer but they have been excellent for me since I have came in and their commitment is shown by their goals and performances so lets focus on that for a minute.

"Then Ross and myself will talk to these boys. But they have to do what they want to do and give their opinion as well on where they see themselves. There is a lot to be discussed you might say."
