Michael Beale in Rangers 'fit like a glove' claim as new boss uses AGM stage to make key performance promise

Michael Beale says his return to Rangers has 'fit like a glove' and promised Light Blues fans they will start to see the benefits on the pitch.

The Ibrox side moved quickly to appoint the Queens Park Rangers boss as Giovanni Van Bronckhorst's successor in Glasgow after a poor string of results left the Dutchman's position untenable. Beale has had the comfort of the World Cup break to reacquaint himself with surroundings at Rangers after spending three-and-a-half years as first team coach under previous boss Steven Gerrard.

And as the club hold their annual AGM, Beale has taken a seat at the top table alongside Ibrox supremos Douglas Park and Ross Wilson, with much on the agenda but the boss focused on making a key promise to fans about turning fortunes around. It is a nine point gap behind Celtic and a crucial transfer window amid an injury crisis that Beale will be most concerned about as he paid tribute to Van Bronckhorst but vowed to make improvements.

He said at the club's annual AGM: "It’s fantastic to be back and representing you. It’s been a whirlwind. Job comes with huge responsibility. It’s been a smooth transition into management. I was hands-on previously and it gives me great confidence. I was a manager for six months and the role didn’t change much. I feel like I’ve been a manager for longer than six months at QPR.

"85 per cent of the squad was recruited during my previous spell. I’ve been able to come back in and fit like a glove. It’s about being collectively strong and I have an idea of what you want to see as fans. I think you’ll see some improvements. I really want to see a reaction from the team. I’d like to credit Gio who is a man of real high class, and to Steven before him for bringing me to the club.

"I want to see cohesion and togetherness. To take the handbrake off and be exciting. We’re Rangers we shouldn’t change for anybody. We should force that on our opponents and shouldn’t change that for anybody."
