Michael Beale in QPR apology as Rangers boss says Ibrox offer 'came out of nowhere'

Michael Beale has issued an apology to QPR over the manner of his departure after his short-lived spell in the Loftus Road hot-seat as the Rangers boss was officially unveiled as the club’s 18th permanent manager.

The 42-year-old spoke in the Blue Room at Ibrox where he was presented to the media at a press conference and was asked if fans in west London were right to have felt betrayed over him leaving after speaking of his loyalty, having rejected Premier League side Wolves.

Beale said: “At the time I spoke that was complete honesty. This came out of nowhere and I had a decision to make. This is an institution. It's an opportunity I couldn't turn down and didn't want to turn down. I apologise to the people I disappointed down there. The feeling and relationship for this club. The city and where I lived. It was the right moment for me to come back. The vision of people behind the scenes drives the decision making in terms of recruitment, and that's why I want to be a part of it.”

After turning down Wolves in October, Beale said: "I didn’t think it was the right moment as I entered into an agreement here. Integrity is a real big thing for me and loyalty. You don’t give it to receive it back, but if those are the things you live by then at times when you are put in a position you have to be strong by them."

Sporting director Ross Wilson promised Beale funds in January to help him fulfil his goals. Wilson said: “If Michael wants to do something in the market then, from the board's point of view, we will try and back that..."
