Michael Beale details Rangers transfer plan as Celtic loss prompts 'change'

Michael Beale insists big changes are on the horizon at Rangers this summer.

The Ibrox gaffer insists that his team needs at least three or four players who can make a huge difference on the starting XI.

It comes just days after his side's 2-1 Viaplay Cup final defeat to Celtic at Hampden.

But the Englishman rightly pointed out that changes to the Gers squad would've been required regardless of that score.

He told the media: "We have a number of games left to play, the team has made steady progress but not outstanding. We have to keep moving forward, the summer window is very important for the football club.

"I want to build a strong team. It is my job to take the emotion out of the match and then make decisions on who we want to stick around as we move and build forward. When the window reopens, there is going to be change.

"We have been in excellent form in the league but we haven't been able to close the gap. We have made progress and have played with more style, but we didn't perform on Sunday. The job to build the team would still have been the same whether we won or lost.

"In the summer, we are at a point of change. We know we have two more derbies before the end of the season and we are focused on a better showing in these games, we also expect a potential third match in the Scottish Cup.

"We need to recruit three or four that are going to make a massive impact in this team. It may be I feel we need to change one or two in contract. We also need to sort out the future of one or two.

"We've had a squad that's had a lot of continuity for a long time but that's evolving and moving. I'm not shying away [from big change]. We need a big shift in the energy we have on the pitch on a matchday That comes from recruitment, developing and promoting.

"We need to reduce the number of the squad and increase the quality. I agree, we need to do some really good work. The last 90 days I've not had many surprises at how big this job is."
