Michael Beale details Rangers transfer deadline ahead of Ibrox summer rebuild

MICHAEL BEALE will aim to complete the majority of his transfer business during Rangers' pre-season schedule to ensure his side can hit the ground running at home and abroad next term.

The Ibrox boss is preparing for a significant window of wheeling and dealing as he puts his stamp on the squad that he inherited from Giovanni van Bronckhorst on his return to Glasgow.

Beale insisted the departure of Ross Wilson, the former Sporting Director, will not have a detrimental impact on his plans as he spoke enthusiastically about his relationship with new chairman John Bennett and Stewart Robertson, the Managing Director, ahead of the visit of St Mirren.

The Englishman has decisions to make on the futures of several first team stars and is expected to overhaul the group that fell 12 points behind Celtic in the title race with an Old Firm defeat last weekend.

Rangers will ramp up their preparations for the new season in the first week of July and Beale is well aware of the work that needs completed within tight time constraints this summer.

Beale said: "You have pre-season where you have a chance to train and build your team and then the moment the first league game comes around at the start of August you go into the Champions League the following Tuesday.

"So straight away you are in to three game weeks if you win that first game and that continues all the way up until the League Cup final. The only breaks will be for the international windows.

"So if you haven’t got your squad in when the season starts, how do you build it? We are away working on that. That has been at the forefront of my mind since November.

"There are some targets that we looked at in January that we would have liked to have got that we weren’t able to get then. But they then just bounce into the summer window. You are correct in saying we need to move quickly.

"I think there will be two phases of the window. There will be between now and maybe the end of June and then you go through to September, which is the second phase of the window."
