Michael Beale has confirmed Leon King is close to signing a new Rangers contract - as he revealed another senior first-team player is also expected to extend his Ibrox stay.
Reports had claimed King was set to pen fresh terms at Rangers to keep him at the club until 2026.
Beale was quizzed on the speculation by the media this afternoon and confirmed a new deal for King could be announced in the coming days.
The Rangers boss then went on to suggest it could be a double announcement with a senior pro at Ibrox also nearing signing a new deal.
Beale was pushed on whether Ryan Kent was the man close to putting pen to paper - but he clearly stated it was not the winger but another senior player.
Asked whether there was truth to the King contract reports, Beale confirmed: "There are positive signs on that.
"I think you will hear something in the next couple of days with him and one other player as well signing new deals which I think is really important for the club.
"I think when you look at the squad we've got some players under-25 or 25 and below that are really important to the future in terms of what we want to do but also the style we want to play and Leon is one of them.
"I'm delighted (with Leon). He was part of the first-team squad when I was here previously but he's grown up a lot in the last few years.
"It's important we manage him well because I think he's got potential to kick on and be a very good player for Rangers and for the national team as well."
Pushed on the identity of the other player set to sign a new contract Beale added: "One of the senior players."
It comes after Fabricio Romano had suggested "top Premier League clubs" were looking at King ahead of his contract negotiations with Rangers.
The defender, still just 18, played in Beale's first match on Saturday in a 3-0 win over Bayer Leverkusen at Ibrox.
King and James Sands started in central defence for the match but Beale is set to be boosted by the returning Ben Davies and Connor Goldson who are available for selection against Hibs but not yet 100 percent fit.
