Michael Beale reckons it would have been a fair result should Rangers have held on to victory against Celtic.
The Ibrox boss watched his side battle back from a goal down to hold a 2-1 lead in the heated derby clash.
But Kyogo Furuhashi's late leveller saw the gap remain at nine points in the league as Celtic took a point.
For Beale, Rangers were good value for their lead and could have deservedly taken all three points.
He told Sky Sports: "I'm disappointed. I saw a lot of good things today and a lot of players committed to the cause.
"I'd like us at times to show a bit more quality in possession. That's what was missing first half but second half we were excellent and I think if we'd won the game I think it would have been fair so we are a little bit disappointed."
While Beale was disappointed not to take victory in his first derby as Rangers manager, he was pleased with his side's ability to "compete" just weeks after his arrival.
"Certainly more answers," said Beale when quizzed if the performance offered more questions or answers. "And I've just given them a few things in there that we need to do moving forward.
"We have certainly got more players in our squad who will come back and help the starting team. We will get fitter and stronger as we go.
"I think the big thing for us is we have only been back together for a few weeks and we are already at a level where we can compete even with the team that we need to compete with.
"Now we need to show consistency in all the other games. We're no further away than what we were four or five weeks ago, we'd like to be two points closer but there are 18 games to go and we just need to keep improving."
