Michael Beale breaks Rangers transfer silence on Nicolas Raskin as he offers cautious Cantwell and Whittaker update

Rangers boss Michael Beale was keen to remain tight-lipped over potential Ibrox arrivals for Nicolas Raskin, Todd Cantwell and Morgan Whittaker this month.

A fee has been agreed with English Championship side Norwich City alongside terms for playmaker Cantwell, who is out of contract at the end of this season, however Beale insisted no player would be unveiled before their clash with St Johnstone as he awaits the deal being finalised. Swansea City have been vocal about the offers they have fielded from the Scottish Premiership side for Whittaker, with boss Russell Martin stating they had yet to meet the English Championship side's valuation.

When quizzed on Cantwell ahead of the clash with St Johnstone, the Ibrox boss said: "We have spoke a lot about it in the week. As soon as anyone is signed and sealed you will be the first to know. We are very close on our or two bits but I won't elaborate."

Asked about a potential stand off with Swansea City, Beale went on: "There is not a stand off. Obviously we like to do our business in private, and in South Wales they have obviously spoken about it and we don't want to add to that.

"The boy has gone back there off of loan. He could be back in their squad tomorrow, and if he is in their squad he is their player."

Beale also admitted the club are interested in adding Standard Liege star Nicolas Raskin. The 21-year-old is out of contract in the summer and has been dropped to the B team in Belgium after failing to agree a new deal.

The Londoner said: "He is another good player I know from the time we played Standard Liege. He missed the first game against Rangers, the night Kemar Roofe scored that amazing goal. He played in the second leg and is a very good player who is out of contract in the summer.

"He is attracting a lot of attention. There is an interest from us but I'm sure there is from a number of clubs. I like to compliment good players and he is one."

Beale also admitted the club could let some of their younger players leave to increase their game time. He added: "We have had one or two enquires for our players, but the focus is firmly on this game.

"It might be that one or two of ours go out temporarily or permanently because they want to play. With one or two coming in you are making room for the squad will look like.

"I have one or two of the younger players who maybe will have opportunities. None of the senior boys, who are totally focussed on the game."
