Michael Beale has admitted that the probability of Rangers toppling Celtic in the league is "low", but he insists his squad must remain focused.
The Ibrox outfit currently trail their rivals by nine points after a stuttering start to the campaign under the leadership of Giovanni van Bronckhorst.
Beale has turned the form around since his appointment, but he has called on his players to maintain their performance level, in the hope they can make up points on Ange Postecoglou's Celtic.
Asked if he felt his team could still catch the league leaders, Beale said: "If you look at probability. The probability is low because the games are running out.
"There are only so many games left. We are in very very good form.
"So are Celtic and their form has run longer than ours. So you would say it is outstanding form.
"What I would say is momentum can change things in football so all we have to do is keep doing our job and hope that momentum changes.
"If it doesn't, we still have to win games for Rangers and build our team stronger for the cup competitions.
"We cannot put a foot off of it. That is why I was a little bit annoyed at the weekend's performance.
"There is a lot to play for at this moment in time. We know the emotions of this city around where you finish and whether you hold trophies above your head at the end of the season."
Meanwhile, Livingston boss David Martindale noted Michael Beale’s “incredible” impact at Rangers as he prepares to host the in-form side on Saturday.
He said: “How do you beat Rangers? You are going to need a little bit of luck on the day.
“Am I correct in saying Michael’s record is the exact same as Ange’s record since Michael took over?
“For me, Celtic were the best team in the country before Michael came in to Rangers.
“He has come in, he has done a fantastic job and him and Ange are now head-to-head, obviously Celtic have got that head start with the points they picked up previously.
“But I think it shows the job that Michael has done.
“If you had said to anybody at Rangers, when they made the appointment, that you are going to be in the cups, going to be unbeaten including a game against Celtic, I think they would have snapped your hands off for that.
“It could have got a little better in terms of the result against Celtic but it couldn’t have been much better.
“He has done an incredible job since he came in and it is my job to focus on Livingston and how we can try to take points off Rangers.
“But it is going to be a lot more difficult than the two previous encounters this season in terms of the style of play.
“Michael has brought his own identity, one that I am little bit familiar with in terms of his DNA was on Rangers from his time with Steven previously.
“It is one thing being well-versed on it, it is how you go about stopping it but I will have my own game plan going into Saturday’s game.”
