Michael Beale admits 'good ally' in Ross Wilson lost as Rangers boss claims summer recruitment 'finalised'

Michael Beale it's disappointing for him to lose a 'good ally' in Ross Wilson from Rangers but that it won't affect the club's summer recruitment plans.

The Englishman has given his reaction to the news the former Ibrox Sporting Director has sealed a move to Premier League outfit Nottingham Forest after he was recruited by chiefs at the City Ground. The situation around the 39-year-old moved quickly with Forest announcing his arrival on Wednesday. It ended a four-year spell for Wilson in Glasgow.

The supremo had come under fire from sections of the Rangers fanbase for the club's recruitment, alongside Managing Director Stewart Robertson who was the subject, alongside Wilson, of a fan banner that read 'time for change' last month. Yet Beale has gone on to explain that summer recruitments plans have already been 'finalised' but that he has lost a bridge between himself and the board at Ibrox.

He told Rangers TV: "You're disappointed to lose a good person, someone I've worked with for the last three-and-a-half years in two spells at the club. Ross was hugely positive in his day-to-day work at the club and he brought a lot of the departments together.

"We've seen good success in the time he was here. He was influential in me coming back in. He's probably the person I spoke to most out of anybody at Rangers between me and the board. I feel like I've lost a good ally.

"One thing I would say is was his big strength is that he never micro-managed anybody. He allowed people to grow in their role and do it to the fullest. In the short term there is a void but the heads of departments are ready to step in.

"A lot of the plans going in to next season in terms of recruitment has already been done. I've been aware the last couple of weeks. Disappointed for Rangers that he's moved on but on a personal level I'm happy for him and his family.

"Having known him for the time I have, I know this isn't the first opportunity to come his way, so if he feels this is the right move for him then we wish him well. We feel that he did a good job here but now it's time to move forward strongly in to the future."

On recruitment, he added: "We've been working closely on that. Recruitment and pre-season has very much been finalised and now its just ticking one or two boxes.

"Maybe some players that see their future elsewhere, maybe some we're thinking about as well. The main part of recruitment in terms of identifying players has already happened. It's now about executing those deals."
