Michael Beale will hold talks with midfielder Malik Tillman at the end of the season to determine if he will return to Rangers next term.
The 20-year-old has played his final match of the current campaign for Beale's side after sustaining a hamstring injury in the Scottish Cup semi-final defeat to Celtic.
Tillman travelled back to Bayern Munich in recent days after undergoing a scan and time will now tell what the future holds for all parties going forward.
The Ibrox board have first refusal on a £5million move for the American internationalist thanks to an agreement that was struck ahead of his loan switch from the Allianz Arena last summer.
Beale has put preparatory work in place to recruit an alternative playmaker in the event that Tillman chooses not to continue his career in Glasgow after a season that has yielded 12 goals for Rangers.
Supporters have been split over whether or not Tillman represents a sensible bit of business ahead of the new term and Beale - who insisted the pair are in a 'great place' on a personal level - is content to give the Bayern starlet time to consider his options.
“Well, that money in the rest of football is pocket-change for someone of his talent," Beale said when asked about the debate over whether or not Tillman was worth the money Rangers will have to pay for him this summer. “In Scotland, it’s not.
“The biggest thing with any player is do they want to be there? Are they really motivated to be there? Because then you get the best of them.
“And I don’t think if you’re a young 20 year old coming over from Germany for your first loan you can really know and summarise everything until the end of the season.
“So it’s not the case that I’ve been putting a gun to his head in January, February or March.
“I think the right thing, in my experience, and the experience I have with young players, is to get to where you’re going at the end of the season and to concentrate one his football until then.
“Then have the conversation that’s right for the boy. In line with that, it’ll be right for the club.”
