Michael Beale addresses Alfredo Morelos Rangers distraction chance amid exit talk

MICHAEL BEALE has dismissed fears Alfredo Morelos will be distracted from the job in hand at Rangers while his Ibrox future remains in doubt this term.

And the Englishman insists Morelos will only earn a new deal in Glasgow or elsewhere if he proves himself between now and the end of the campaign.

Beale confirmed on Thursday that Morelos had informed him that he has not agreed a pre-contract switch to Sevilla following speculation in Spain in recent days.

Rangers have yet to put a contract offer on the table for the Colombian as both parties consider their options heading into the final months of his deal and Beale's impending summer rebuild.

But Beale is content to wait until the close of play this season to firm up the Morelos situation one way or the other and he is sure the 26-year-old won't let his levels drop regardless of where his future lies.

"These boys love football," Beale said when asked if Morelos could get made offers between now and the summer and be distracted by that. "It’s not like they have this one game and if they get injured that contract is going away.

"These boys love football and they are all in. They signed up, they get paid good money to come in here and work and there is a good relationship.

"I think the most important thing is the communication. As long as the communication is honest and pure you keep moving forward.

"These boys, if they want to get the offer - either here or elsewhere - they need to play well, train well, stay fit. There is no way players get to play for a club our size without the right mentality.

"A lot is written about certain players, but the reality is they are young men living their dream. You do see that every day.

"They do work hard and if they weren’t working hard they would be completely out of the team and the squad. Then you would be asking questions ‘why he is out?’, and my answer would be the honest one that the players wouldn't be befit of getting the jersey.

"At the moment, that’s not the case. The boys are all really pushing."
