Michael Beale addresses Alfredo Morelos injury scare ahead of Celtic Old Firm derby at Ibrox

Michael Beale has addressed injury concerns over Alfredo Morelos after the striker limped off against Motherwell ahead of Monday's huge Old Firm clash.

The Rangers boss will face an anxious wait to see if the Colombian striker will pass a fitness test ahead of the New Year's showdown. Morelos went down with tightness in his hamstring during the clash with Motherwell tonight where the Light Blues ran out 3-0 winners. Beale has admitted he hopes the problem is "nothing serious" as he revealed he may utilise Antonio Colak or Kemar Roofe who have returned to training this week, but never made tonight's squad.

Speaking after the match, Beale told BBC Sportsound: "I think at this moment he [Morelos] had a bit of tightness. He's been playing with aches and pains, hence why he never played against Ross County because he hasn't played much this year. The last two games took a lot out of him.

"Let's hope its nothing serious but with Antonio and Kemar back in training now that gives us more options in that area and that's what we need I think."

Morelos got on the scoresheet in the victory over Motherwell as Beale made it four wins out of four.

Malik Tillman and Connor Goldson were also amongst the goals at Ibrox in win over the Steelmen.

Rangers will go into the New Year's derby clash on Monday nine points behind rivals Celtic who maintained their gap over their Glasgow rivals with a 4-0 win at Hibs tonight.
