Micah Richards' perfect response after Pep Guardiola ignores him but not Thierry Henry

Micah Richards emulated The Inbetweeners characters Will McKenzie, Simon Cooper and Neil Sutherland to mock Thierry Henry after the ex-Manchester City star was snubbed by Pep Guardiola.

The duo were covering City's Champions League clash with Bayern Munich on Tuesday night. City hosted the first-leg of the quarter-final tie at the Etihad Stadium, with Henry and Richards part of CBS Sports' punditry team in the broadcaster's studio.

Jules Breach had travelled to Manchester to report from the stadium and briefly spoke to Guardiola off-camera. The City boss requested a message be sent to Henry, which led to Richards brutally mocking the Arsenal legend.

"One of my favourite moments was speaking to Pep Guardiola off camera as he was walking past to do some other interviews tonight. He actually grabbed me and said 'Jules, please can you say hi to TT [Henry] back in the studio'. So Thierry, a special for you from Pep," Breach said.

Henry then smiled and did his signature mouth twitch in response, though Richards appeared to be less than impressed about being ignored. The former City star quoted The Inbetweeners and said: "Friends, oooohh football friends."

The quote comes from episode four of season one of the Channel 4 comedy programme. In the episode, Jay Cartwright is relentlessly mocked by Will, Simon and Neil for getting a friend outside the group.

Jay claimed he used to play football with the friend, with it being a major sub-plot of that episode. He eventually ends up angrily jumping up and down on his car screaming they are not actually friends.

Guardiola's comment to Breach came after he had seen his City side storm to a commanding win over Bayern. A stunning strike from Rodri set them on their way, with second-half goals from Bernardo Silva and Erling Haaland sealing the victory.

It means they have put one foot into the semi-finals, where they face either Chelsea or Real Madrid. Guardiola was delighted with his side's performance, but cautioned his troops that Bayern will be a tough test in next week's return leg.

“I know what we have to do there, and we have to perform really well. They are able to score one, two, three, I know it and the players know it. It was an incredible result," he said.

"But we have to do our game with a huge, huge personality because they are a top team. Here we have our chances. Here in this stadium we are something special this season. When we have the momentum we are clinical.

“It is the same in Munich. I have been there for three years. I know what it means and the people. But we are going there to score the goals and to try to win the game. To do that will be so difficult.”
