Micah Parsons Hints He Played an Offensive Role During Cowboys Practice

The hype behind Micah Parsons and the Cowboys couldn’t be any louder after the first two weeks of the 2023 season. Dallas is 2–0 and the star linebacker is already considered to be the favorite to win Defensive Player of the Year. But on Tuesday, he hinted he might not only play on defense this season.

During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, Parsons was asked if he has ever gone to coach Mike McCarthy to ask for some touches on offense and the linebacker may have said a little bit too much.

“Big Mike actually let me get a couple scout team reps at tight end,” Parsons said. “He might not let y’all know that, I probably shouldn’t have spilled the tea.”

It appears McCarthy has at least entertained the idea of using Parsons’s 6’ 3” frame to move the sticks but because of Parsons’s loose lips, teams might see this coming. The last dominant defensive player in recent memory who also got some snaps on offense was none other that J.J. Watt. During his 2014 Defensive Player of the Year campaign, Watt not only tallied 20.5 sacks, but he caught three passes, all for touchdowns, as a tight end.

So someone of Parsons’s caliber playing both sides of the ball isn’t unheard of, but it remains to be seen whether Dallas wants to give the All-Pro a shot.
