From the moment the Kansas City Chiefs took the lead with less than five minutes remaining in the second quarter, their AFC Wild Card win over the Pittsburgh Steelers had little doubt.
The Chiefs scored 35 straight points in the 42-21 win, and they topped the scoring off with a touchdown pass from tight end Travis Kelce to Byron Pringle. It was Kelce’s first touchdown pass of his NFL career. But if it were up to Patrick Mahomes, the Chiefs quarterback would have been on the receiving end of that touchdown.
Mic’d-up footage from NFL Films showed how the Chiefs sideline reacted to the Kelce touchdown pass, and Mahomes really thought he deserved a look from his tight end.
Do you agree with Patrick Mahomes that @tkelce should've thrown him the ball instead of Byron Pringle?pic.twitter.com/As1o9VQdAY

Mahomes broke out wide on the snap, and the Steelers defense totally ignored him. So, yeah, Kelce could have hit Mahomes for an easy touchdown if he looked that way. And you especially have to love how Mahomes broke it all down to the Chiefs bench with the tablet. He said:
“Ay, after he pumped, there was a split second I thought he was gonna throw that to me. I was wide open! He’s supposed to reset. He pumped. It was a reset over to that wide, you know what I’m saying, I’m wide open. No one went with me. I am wide open, bro. … I’m wide open!”
They’ll just have to look Mahomes’ way next time. It’s only fair.
