Mic’d-up Dallas Goedert told his Eagles teammates that he slowed down just to give an extra stiff-arm

The Philadelphia Eagles are off to the divisional round following their 22-10 win over the Packers on Sunday, and no play set the tone more than Dallas Goedert’s 24-yard touchdown in the third quarter.

He went out of his way to embarrass the Packers.

Goedert caught the second-down pass in the flat and went right at Packers cornerback Carrington Valentine. Goedert picked up some separation with a pair of devastating stiff-arms. And really, two stiff-arms were all that he needed to cruise into the end zone, but Goedert didn’t stop at two. At the five-yard line, it appeared that Goedert intentionally slowed down just so he could lay a third stiff-arm on Valentine.

Well, according to the mic’d-up footage, that was exactly what happened.

NFL Films showed a clip of Goedert watching the replay back from the bench. And when he saw that third stiff-arm, he said:

“That last one was unnecessary for sure. … Oh, why not? I slowed down so he can come and get some.”

That was equal parts cruel and awesome — he didn’t have to do Valentine like that. And it was the kind of play that fired up the entire Eagles team. You love to see that.
