Miami Hurricanes honoring Mark Richt in Week 3

The Miami Hurricanes are honoring former Georgia Bulldogs head coach Mark Richt in Week 3 of the 2023 college football season.

Mark Richt coached at Georgia from 2001 to 2015 before the Bulldogs hired Kirby Smart. Following Richt’s time at Georgia, he coached at Miami from 2016 to 2018. Richt also played quarterback at Miami from 1979-1982.

Mark Richt will serve as an honorary captain for Miami’s home game on Sept. 14 at 7:30 p.m. ET against Bethune-Cookman. Richt is a member of the 2023 College Football Hall of Fame Class.

The National Football Foundation’s Steve Hatchell noted that Richt is a deserving member of the Hall of Fame.

During his 18 years as a head coach, Mark Richt established himself as one of the top coaches in the history of college football, winning nearly 73 percent of his games at Georgia and Miami (FL) and never failing to make the postseason and landing himself in the NCAA record books among the all-time winningest coaches.

Richt never had an awful season during his time at Georgia. Bulldog fans always got to watch a bowl game during his consistent time as Georgia’s head coach.

Mark Richt currently is a college football analyst for the ACC Network and ESPN.

The Hurricanes are off to a 2-0 start to the season. Miami got a big win at home against Texas A&M in Week 2.
