Miami Fumbles Instead of Kneeling, Gives Up Game-Winning Touchdown to Georgia Tech

Football has seen its share of odd endings. Miami is responsible for a few of them.

However, none have unfolded quite like the No. 17 Hurricanes' 23–20 loss to Georgia Tech on Saturday evening.

All Miami had to do was kneel out the clock on third-and-10 with 33 seconds left at the Yellow Jackets' 30-yard line. Instead, the Hurricanes ran a play and all hell broke loose.

Running back Donald Chaney Jr. fumbled, handing the ball to Georgia Tech. Moving quickly, the Yellow Jackets advanced to the Miami 44-yard line with one second left, allowing quarterback Haynes King to throw the winning touchdown to Georgia Tech wide receiver Christian Leary.

The astounding sequence of events stunned the Hurricanes' home crowd and knocked Miami from the ranks of the unbeaten.

Cameras caught a Hurricane near tears on the sideline, clearly mouthing, "What the f--- are we doing?"

Needless to say, Miami coach Mario Cristobal has a long week ahead of him.
