Miami edges Virginia Tech as replay review negates apparent Hokies Hail Mary TD

The University of Miami remains undefeated. After an interminable replay review Friday at Hard Rock Stadium on the final play of the game, an apparent Virginia Tech touchdown was reversed to an incomplete pass.

Miami came away with a 38-34 victory in the ACC game. The Hurricanes trailed for much of the contest but Cam Ward pulled off a miraculous plays shaking off a couple of Hokie sack attempts to flip a pass to Riley Williams that somehow went for 26 yards.

That set up the final play, which will have Hokies fans furious and the Hurricane faithful joyous.

Kyron Drones faired a Hail Mary to the back of the end zone, where a number of players battled for the ball.

A Miami player came out of the pile with the football, thinking he had a game-saving interception.

However, the officials ruled one of the multiple Virginia Tech players in the scrum, Da’Quan Felton, had caught the ball for  would have been a game-winning touchdown.

The official said the called on the field was a Virginia Tech touchdown but the play was under review.

The ESPN broadcast booth debated the decision while it was reviewed by ACC officials in Charlotte. The announcers and ref analyst were unable to come up with anything conclusive. The play was that much of a quagmire.

After many minutes, the referee said after review the call was reversed and the play was an incomplete pass.
