Miami Dolphins' Tyreke Hill Handcuffed By Police Before Game

Miami Dolphins

A police officer who handcuffed Miami Dolphins' receiver Tyreke Hill ahead of Sunday's game is now on administrative leave. Hill was detained by the Miami-Dade Police Department for a traffic violation one block from the Dolphins Stadium. The incident, captured on video, showed Hill on the ground with police restraining him.

The Dolphins confirmed that Hill was briefly detained and received a ticket for a moving violation upon entering the stadium. His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, expressed concern over the handling of the situation, stating that Hill was physically unharmed but mentally distressed.

Despite the ordeal, Hill remained focused during the game and scored a crucial 80-yard touchdown. His celebratory gesture, mimicking being handcuffed, highlighted the earlier incident.

After the game, Hill addressed the media, expressing confusion over the events and emphasizing his desire to use his platform positively. He acknowledged the importance of respecting law enforcement while also recognizing the existence of 'bad apples' in every profession.

Another Dolphins player revealed that he, too, was handcuffed during the incident. Following the game, the Miami-Dade Police Department announced an internal affairs investigation and placed one officer on administrative duties.

The director of the Miami-Dade Police Department, Stephanie Daniels, confirmed the ongoing investigation and assured that the matter would be thoroughly reviewed.
