The NFL Players Association released its third annual report card, ranking the Miami Dolphins as the top team for the second consecutive season. The Minnesota Vikings followed closely behind in second place, with the Atlanta Falcons, Las Vegas Raiders, and Los Angeles Chargers rounding out the top five.
The report is based on feedback from 1,695 players, representing 77% of the union's membership. The survey was conducted between August 26 and November 20, with players providing ratings on various aspects of their teams, including ownership, coaching, and overall working conditions.
Notably, the Washington Commanders made a significant improvement, moving from last place to 11th in the rankings. Players praised owner Josh Harris for his efforts to enhance staffing and culture within the organization.
In terms of coaching, the Commanders' Dan Quinn was ranked as the top coach by players. The Falcons and Chargers also saw significant jumps in the rankings, with their coaches receiving high praise from players.
Owners were evaluated on their willingness to invest in team facilities and their contributions to positive team culture. Stephen Ross of the Dolphins, Zygi Wilf of the Vikings, and Arthur Blank of the Falcons were among the top-rated owners in these categories.
On the coaching front, Raheem Morris of the Falcons and Kevin O'Connell of the Vikings received high marks, with Miami's Mike McDaniels earning an A-plus rating. Coaches like Kevin Stefanski, Doug Pederson, and Matt Eberflus received lower ratings and some were subsequently let go.
The report card aims to provide valuable feedback to teams on how they can improve working conditions for players and enhance overall team performance. While some teams saw positive strides, there is always room for growth and development in the NFL landscape.
