Kino Lorber's MHz Choice and Topic are set to merge into a single streaming service, as announced by parent company Kino Lorber. This combined platform will serve as the exclusive U.S. streaming home for the popular series 'Babylon Berlin,' which will be transitioning from its previous home on Netflix. Subscribers of both MHz Choice and Topic will be seamlessly transferred to the new service in the coming months.
The pricing for the consolidated offering will be set at $7.99 per month, aligning with the current subscription cost of MHz Choice. The newly merged MHz Choice-Topic streaming service will be under the leadership of Kino Lorber's chief operating officer, overseeing distribution and partnerships, while the head of content strategy will continue to manage programming. The chief marketing officer will also remain in her role to drive marketing efforts.
Ed Carroll, President of Kino Lorber Media Group, expressed excitement about the enhanced content offering, stating that MHz Choice is now positioned as the ultimate destination for fans of international series, particularly European mysteries and Nordic noir. He highlighted 'Babylon Berlin' as a standout series with universal appeal, drawing parallels to iconic shows like 'A French Village,' 'Downton Abbey,' and 'Mad Men.'
The upcoming season four premiere of 'Babylon Berlin' is anticipated to be a significant draw for subscribers, along with access to earlier seasons of the acclaimed period drama. The move to consolidate MHz Choice and Topic into a single streaming service aims to streamline the viewing experience for subscribers and provide a comprehensive library of international content.
With the merger of MHz Choice and Topic, viewers can look forward to a curated selection of high-quality international series, further solidifying the platform's position as a go-to destination for fans of global television.
