Now this is one way to kick off your highly anticipated MLB career!
On Wednesday against the Atlanta Braves, New York Mets prospect — and former first-round pick — Brett Baty made his MLB debut to much fanfare. After putting up great numbers in the minors, Baty was able to get his shot after a rash of injuries cut through the Mets’ infield depth this past week.
And in his first ever MLB at bat — on his first swing, no less! — Baty smoked a down-the-middle breaking ball to right field for a two-run homer at the top of the second. Talk about a perfect way to start your major league baseball career!

What a moment for Baty. And the reaction of his family in the stands to the home run is just so sweet too!

Headed into Wednesday’s game, Baty was a +425 to hit a home run, according to BetMGM, so the 22-year-old is already living up to the hype. This moment was surely something special for Baty, his family, and Mets fans all over.
