In a down year for the New York Mets, shortstop Francisco Lindor provided Major League Baseball fans with one of the most special moments of the 2023 season.
While on the road to face the Red Sox on Saturday, the four-time All-Star gave a young Boston fan a memory that will likely last a lifetime, and it didn’t have anything to do with her favorite team’s 8–6 victory.
Prior to the game at Fenway Park, Lindor went down the left field line seeking out a young girl who was being held in her father’s arms.
At first, Lindor did his best to sway the young girl with a signed baseball in an attempt to convert her into becoming a fan of the team from Flushing:
“I am trying to make you a Mets fan,” said Lindor.
Lindor, immediately realizing her immense shyness, quickly reversed course and instead shared a poignant message.
“Be the best Red Sox fan ever.”
The classy moment created by Lindor adds to the memorable moments baseball fans have witnessed at historic Fenway Park since the stadium opened back in 1912.
