Sean Manaea and the New York Mets have reached a significant agreement, finalizing a $75 million, three-year contract that solidifies the team's pitching rotation. Manaea, who emerged as the Mets' top starter in 2024, had an impressive season with a 12-6 record and a 3.47 ERA in 32 appearances. The left-hander declined his player option for 2025 to become a free agent, ultimately choosing to re-sign with the Mets.

The Mets' president of baseball operations praised Manaea's contributions both on and off the field, highlighting his leadership and performance. The signing of Manaea adds a key piece to the Mets' revamped rotation, which also includes new additions such as Juan Soto, Frankie Montas, Clay Holmes, and Griffin Canning.

During the 2024 season, Manaea showcased his skills by striking out 184 batters and posting a 3.09 ERA in his final 12 regular-season games. In the playoffs, he continued to excel, helping the Mets advance to the National League Championship Series with a 2-1 record and a 4.74 ERA in four starts.

Manaea's contract includes various incentives, such as bonuses for making the All-Star Game, winning a Cy Young Award, and achieving postseason accolades. Additionally, he will receive deferred payments over several years as part of the agreement.

With the addition of Manaea, Montas, and Holmes, the Mets' 2025 rotation is taking shape, with other pitchers like Kodai Senga and David Peterson expected to contribute. Manaea, a seasoned veteran with nine years of MLB experience, brings a wealth of knowledge and talent to the team.

Overall, the Mets' investment in Manaea reflects their commitment to building a competitive roster for the upcoming seasons. The left-hander's return to New York signifies a continuation of his successful tenure with the team and sets the stage for further achievements in the years to come.
