Baseball is a great game because sometimes it can be really beautiful and sometimes it can be really weird.
The latter of that was on full display Monday night in the Padres-Mets game at Citi Field when New York got two oddly identical infield hits in the same inning.
Luis Guillorme got it started with a bunt down the third base line that just rolled along the dirt before coming to a stop in fair territory. Then, a few batters later, Tomas Nido hit a slow grounder up the same baseline and got the same result as the ball refused to roll foul.

That was just bizarre. And oddly satisfying—unless you’re a San Diego fan.
The Mets went on to score three runs in that inning and won the game, 5–0.
